2000 athletes

We are welcoming 2000 participants to Malmö: 1500 from Sweden and 500 from invited Special Olympics delegations. 2026 is dedicated to be "the year of parasport" in Malmö and we want to celebrate that with you.

Sports and health

Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2026 will be a sports festival in the heart of Malmö. We will celebrate our athletes with an opening ceremony, with Healthy Athletes Program and with Special Olympics Sweden Family – and much more!

2000 participants

We welcome 2,000 participants to Malmö: The majority from Sweden, but also specially invited athletes from international Special Olympics programs.

The year 2026 is “The Year of parasport” in Malmö, and we want to celebrate it with you.

The Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2026 will be the largest sporting event for people with intellectual disabilities ever held in Sweden.

Opening Ceremony

Everyone in Malmö is invited to the Opening Ceremony in Folkets Park on Friday, 4 September!

The preliminary start time is 20:00.

We promise a spectacular opening with music, dance, and a festive atmosphere for all.
